Furthermore, hip hop grew and continued to be highly successful in the decade, with the continuation of the genre's golden age. Aside from rap,contemporary R&B and urban music in general remained extremely popular throughout the decade; urban music in the late-1980s and 1990s often blended with styles such as soul, funk and jazz, resulting infusion genres such as new jack swing, neo-soul, hip hop soul and g-funk which were popular.
Some popular hip-hop and rap artis at the time were Tpac and Biggie Smalls. These artist became popular in the mid 1990s because rap which started in the 1980s became popular. Also artist like Aaliyah and Destiny's Child became a hit because R&B music was making a strong comeback. This music was big because most of it was feel good music of the time because the economy was doing very well. Also another genre that was born was elctronica and house music which was the new dance pop music of the time that let people be free and express themselves however they wished.
